About 140 miles northeast of Tehran, Iran, in a narrow strip between the Caspian Sea wetlands and Elburtz Mountains lies a series of prehistoric caves inside the Iranian village of Tarujen. Most notable is Hotu cave.
Perhaps my 300th Great Grandfather occupied this cave along with the members of his tribe, or perhaps he dwelled in the Kamarband Cave which is just 300 feet away.
This is the beginning of my DNA Journey. What cave did you come from?

YDNA refers to the male Y chromosome and studying this allows population geneticists to look back to the beginning of the human race.
This branch of genetic genealogy provides us insights to our ancestors who lived in colonial and post revolutionary war. Combined with conventional genealogical research can open the doors to our immediate past.
Like YDNA, but specific to the mother's DNA. DNA is passed from mother to daughter over thousads of years.
